We hope you are all keeping well and safe. There is more to being healthy than exercise in these strange times that we find ourselves in. Right now your mental health needs to be looked after now more than ever. The centre may be closed for now but if there are any of our members and customers particularly our older members who might be feeling lonely right now and you are on facebook, we will be at the other end whether it's a work query or just for a catch up we would love to keep in touch with you all.
We can also be reached by email at audrey@coralleisure.ie or through our website at www.coralleisure.ie if people are not on facebook and you could pass this message to them if they are trying to get in touch with us, thank you Our gym is open with restrictions in place on some of the machines to ensure the recommended distance of 1m is kept in place
Following the most recent update, we will be closing the sauna and steam room until further notice. For now, the pool and gym are open as normal. We ask that all customers adhere to the measures in place with regard to disinfection. We thank you for you cooperation and we will update our social media pages and website regularly to keep you informed.
As members of Ireland Active, a not for profit company limited by guarantee to provide support and services to create the platforms to professionalise the leisure industry through standards and best practice, we are receiving regular updates from them on their communication with the HPSC/HSE with regard to providing specific information re. Covid-19 for leisure centre operators.
The HSPC/HSE issued the following guidance with regard to swimming pools - adherence to current recommended disinfection practice is sufficient to inactivate COVID-19 virus in chlorinated drinking water and swimming pools. It has always been our policy to test the pool water every 2 hours and check the pool temperature to ensure they are within recommended parameters. With regard to the gym, we have a hygiene station in place with disposable gloves, tissue and spray provided for gym users. We ask that all customers follow the steps of prevention as outlined in the HSE poster that is displayed throughout the centre. EcoMerit was delighted to contribute to a Coral Leisure training event conducted recently with their Energy Champions Team in Portlaoise. The training covered the global context for action, barriers and benefits to resource efficiency within Coral Leisure and priorities for action in the coming year. This training was held at Coral Leisure’s inaugural Energy Champion meeting and marked a huge step in how far this role has come and how valued it is. Each Energy Champion has done invaluable work for their own Centres and it must be recognised and given the regard it deserves. It was the first time that the majority of those in the room met; to see the sharing of ideas, as well as the shared enthusiasm for the role, made the entire day worthwhile. Environmental consciousness is the future for most businesses, as they can see the multitude of benefits that are associated with a greener view, is it any wonder that giants like Microsoft are declaring that they will be carbon negative by 2030. If Coral Leisure wants to continue to lead the way in our own industry, then the Energy Champion role must grow and evolve as well, along with the continued partnership and support from Ecomerit. “Coral Leisure’s main goal was to create a network to allow each Energy Champion in Coral Leisure to take full advantage of each other’s experience, resources, and ideas. We have a great pool of talent across the group and it is a huge benefit to be able to tap into this and help each other. This was the first step in taking the Energy Champion role in a new direction and giving it the status and respect it deserves. Thanks to Camillus our “Enthusiastic Energy Engineer” for all his work. And thanks to Bobby and Christian of Ecomerit for joining us and not only educating but helping to steer us in the right direction.” Ciarán Murtagh: Area Manager and Coral Energy Team Coordinator |
