coral wicklow blog!
We would just like to say thank you to everyone who has been in the centre, communicating by email and phone and on our social media pages, everyone has been so supportive and it means so much.
From the parents explaining to their little kids why they can't touch anything and the little kids who are being so good and not touching anything (that must be so hard for them!), to our gym users of all ages wiping down their machines and equipment each time they are used, our swimmers for adapting to the new set up, everyone trying to set up booking online (bare with us on this call if you need help), local businesses who helped us to get set up and going at short notice, our staff who have put in so much work to get the centre ready, just thank you.
Opening back up and the easing of restrictions has been a nervous time for us all but it has been very clear to us at Coral Leisure Wicklow from what we have seen since reopening, that the people of Wicklow are looking out for each other with everyone doing their best and working together to keep this virus at bay.
So again, thank you to everyone 🙌
We hope you have been keeping safe and well. We are delighted to be sending you this update to inform you of our provisional re-opening date and the options available to you as a valued member of our centre. We are aiming to have the centre reopened from Monday, 6th July.
The reopening period from the 6th of July will be a temporary new way of operating to ensure that the restrictions put in place by the government for our industry are adhered to until they can be eased hopefully in the near future.
The gym and pool will be available for use with new social distancing measures in place. Until a review of restrictions has been announced by an Taoiseach, the following facilities and services will remain closed/unavailable for now – sauna, steamroom, showers, drinking fountains, summer camps, swimming lessons, group bookings, 1:1 lessons, 1:1 gym assessments.
For swimming, the recommendation is that a “beach style” changing system is in place during this phase. We have created a new changing system with additional changing spaces in our viewing area and some on poolside. You will be allocated a changing area upon your arrival. We ask that you shower before arriving at the centre and arrive in your swim attire as you would if heading to the beach. All swims must be booked in advance. We advise that all valuables be left at home where possible.
For the gym, we ask that you arrive in your training gear and again that valuables be left at home where possible. All gym visits must be booked in advance.
We will provide a much more in-depth explanation of the new temporary operating procedures over the next few days.
As the services available to you as a member will be reduced during this phase, we have put 3 options in place for you to choose from. When you have read through these options you can email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the centre at 0404 66831 to confirm which option you would like to go with for now.
We are very aware that many of our members might still be very anxious about returning to the centre and that others may be eager to return. We hope that we are providing an option that will suit all and if not, please contact us by phone or email if you would like to discuss your concerns or require further explanation.
Please see the following options available
to our members below -
We are delighted to announce that the centre will reopen from Monday 6th July 2020.
We would like to thank everyone for being so understanding and patient as we prepared the centre to reopen. Tomorrow, 30th June, we will post further updates which will include our new timetable, explain our booking system and all new social distancing measures that will be in place.
Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
Coral Leisure announce Darragh Greene as their new Brand Ambassador
June 2nd, 2020
Irish international swimmer Darragh Greene is today announced as Brand Ambassador for Coral Leisure Ireland. Having started his swimming career in his local Coral Leisure swimming pool in Longford, Darragh continues to use his local centre as he prepares to compete at Tokyo. Coral Leisure are extremely proud to be supporting Darragh on his journey to the Olympics in 2021 as part of Team Ireland, even recently supplying Darragh with necessary gym equipment to keep his training on track during the Covid 19 restrictions.
Irish family owned Coral Leisure are Ireland’s leading Leisure & Energy Management company managing nine pool & leisure facilities nationwide. In addition to Longford they include facilities in Arklow, Askeaton, Ballinasloe, Cobh, Killarney, Monaghan, Tuam, and Wicklow. Coral Leisure are known for a personable and transparent approach and put great emphasis on building relationships with customers and local community groups.
Nationwide, their enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff pride themselves on delivering real value by providing high quality standards of customer care in a friendly and professional atmosphere. It’s these brand values that Darragh believes in, telling us “I am very much looking forward to being part of the Coral team. They have been such a big part of my junior swimming life as that’s where my training began. They have also been hugely supportive of me as my career has progressed and most recently during the current crisis, providing me with the necessary gym equipment to allow me to continue my training. I am extremely grateful to them and am excited about being able to help the Coral team and their members however I can.”
Also speaking on the announcement, Managing Director Siobhán Tighe commented “We are delighted to have Darragh as our Brand Ambassador and are very proud of all his achievements to date. We are looking forward to supporting Darragh on his journey to Tokyo in 2021.”
Following the publication of the Governments roadmap for reopening society and business, we at Coral Leisure are currently working to develop a strategy to re-open our facilities. In conjunction with our Local Authorities we are in the process of finalising the re-opening plans for each of our 9 centres.
The safety of our staff and customers has always been our number one priority. We have been in contact with industry leading experts from across the globe and are ensuring evidence-based procedures will be in place once our pools, gyms and fitness facilities re-open.
Due to the variety and diversity of Coral Leisure facilities across the country, each centre shall have a bespoke programme for re-opening. The site-specific details of these plans shall be communicated to you from your local Coral Leisure centre closer to the date of each phase in the government roadmap.
Across all Coral centres however there will be social distancing measures, hand sanitising stations, rigorous cleaning regimes and comprehensive training for all staff in place when we begin operations again.
In line with the government’s phased roadmap, Coral Leisure hopes to implement a phased reopening of it centres and a phased re-introduction of services.
Phase 2 -June 8th – Small outdoor fitness classes will resume, in some centres with appropriate facilities, with social distancing measure in place. Some centres will also be offering online classes, possibly even before this date.
Phase 4 – July 20th – Swimming Pools will reopen with social distancing measures in place and extensive effective cleaning procedures in place. Limits on numbers will apply.
Phase 5 – August 10th – Gyms, Exercise Studios and sports halls will reopen. Again, limits on numbers will apply, social distancing measure will be in place and extra cleaning procedures will be in place,
Please follow our social media channels to be kept informed of the specific plans for your local Coral Leisure centre.
We are looking forward to seeing all of our members and customers in the coming months, as always Coral Leisure is at the heart of your community and we will continue to ensure the highest possible standards as we face into the new world post Coronavirus, together.
We hope you are keeping safe and well. It has now been 7 weeks since we had to close our doors! Unbelievable how fast time is going! We genuinely miss chatting with you all and catching up with you on your visits to the gym and pool. We have always appreciated the kindness and generosity shown to us from our customers. This makes our working day so much more enjoyable and this has continued through all the changes we have experienced during these strange times.
We have been trying our best to keep everyone active and healthy and hoping that we can help you to remain positive. We created a home work out challenge which turned out to be a great success. We crowned Mr. Tony Mulraine the winner of a 3 month Pool & Gym membership for his amazing dedication to the challenge and for keeping us posted with videos of his daily workouts. Thank you to everyone who signed up to our challenge. If you would like to continue the home workout program you can find the instructional videos on our YouTube page by pressing on link below -

Also, if you have any feedback or ideas to help us for when the time comes to reopen please send them to us, these are new times that we will all be facing which can be made easier by working together.
